Articling Student Programme
KRMC offers two articling streams to its students.
- General Stream: Students in our general stream work primarily on matters across our various litigation practice groups, other than our Personal Injury and Insurance Litigation Department, with the majority of the work focused on creditors’ rights litigation. Students who article in our general stream develop a thorough, practical understanding of the many facets of the civil litigation process. Occasionally, students in the general stream may also have the opportunity to assist lawyers with corporate, real estate, and wills and estates matters.
- Personal Injury and Insurance Litigation Stream: Students in our personal injury and insurance litigation stream concentrate their full articling term in our Personal Injury and Insurance Litigation Department. In this stream, students have an opportunity to work with experienced counsel to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all aspects of personal injury and insurance law and litigation.
If you decide to apply to KRMC, we encourage you to indicate your desired articling stream in your application.
Compensation and Benefits
KRMC offers an articling student salary that is very competitive with other mid-sized Toronto law firms. Benefits include payment of all Law Society licensing program fees, life insurance, an extended health care and dental plan and two weeks of paid vacation.
The Hiring Process
Our articling students are usually hired during the summer before third year of law school through the articling recruitment procedures regulated by the Law Society of Ontario for firms located in Toronto. Many of our lawyers, both partners and associates, are active participants in the decisions surrounding the hiring of articling students.
We invite all interested students to submit an application, which should include a cover letter, resumé, copies of law school and undergraduate transcripts, and either a reference letter or a list of references. Email applications are accepted, although we ask that all supporting documents be included in no more than two PDF files.
