Part-time Corporate Commercial Legal Assistant (2-3 days per week)


KRMC is a diverse, multi-service law firm with two sophisticated Toronto offices - our head office in the thriving uptown business district. We act for a number of well-known clients including financial institutions, leasing companies, multinational corporations, and owner-operated businesses.


We are currently seeking a part-time Legal Assistant to join our firm, in our Corporate Commercial department. This role will be responsible for providing legal administrative support primarily to two associates and occasional support to three partners. This position is to be held at our head office, at Yonge and Sheppard, which has convenient, direct access to the Sheppard subway station and will suit an individual looking for a part-time work arrangement on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing administrative support, including paper and electronic filing, maintaining and monitoring calendars, e-mails and other correspondence, scheduling appointment, faxing, scanning and photocopying documents
  • Opening and closing files
  • Setting up and maintaining corporate minute books
  • Incorporating and organizing corporations
  • Preparing annual minutes and other corporate documents
  • Preparing a variety of legal documents, resolutions, and agreements from written, dicta-phone or oral instructions
  • Preparing and revising documents for corporate and commercial transactions
  • Preparing reporting letters and record books
  • Preparing accounts and monitoring accounts receivable
  • Maintaining tickler system
  • Communicating with clients via e-mail and telephone
  • Arranging for and coordinating departmental lunch meetings
  • Maintaining confidentiality on all aspects of the job


  • Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma preferred
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a Corporate and Commercial legal environment
  • Experience working in a mid-size firm an asset
  • Familiarity with corporate minute book maintenance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word including use and manipulation of styles, table of contents, paragraphing, indenting, numbered lists and auto cross-referencing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Power Point, including the ability to prepare organizational charts
  • Proficiency in knowledge of Fast Company, ONCORP and PC Law
  • Ability to perform redlining, proof reading, comparison of documents and other similar detail-oriented reviews and editing
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Strong file and document management skills
  • Knowledge of legal terminology common to the position
  • Highly motivated, team oriented and inquisitive with initiative-taking skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high pressure situations
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

A satisfactory criminal records check will be required from the selected candidate as a condition of employment.
